Under the Same Sky
Our time is in sync with everyone elses time here on this earth.
Are you feeling like your life is chaotic? I am, and I don’t think it is that I am doing anything wrong; it just seems to be the season I am in. I need to remember that the weeks on Earth and the cosmos operate on their own serene, unhurried schedule. Over the last week, the weather has been all over the place, and the clouds have been a constant in the night sky, so my time outside to look up after dark has been limited, but I still do it as a necessary deep breath to try and anchor myself.
Have you caught the brilliant, steady glow of Jupiter climbing into the late-night sky? Or have you watched the moon trace its familiar silver arc? Or what about me, who seems to be blessed enough to spot a stray, unexpected meteor streaking across the darkness? The night sky delivers. It always does. Clouds or no clouds, it’s all still there.
We live in a world that constantly demands our attention. I am so guilty of this as of late; the outside world is slipping, from a screen in my hand, from a txt, or even just the chatter outside.
Looking up on quiet nights forces me to slow down. It reminds me that I am part of something unimaginably vast, yet beautifully connected. Every photon of starlight that hits my eyes this week traveled across immense distances just to remind me of the bigger picture.
Until next time, keep looking up.
