I was able to capture the SpaceX launch this morning unexpectedly, as I was on my way to my morning coffee. I pulled over on the side of the road to capture it. Because the launch occurred just before dawn, it created a stunning "space jellyfish" display in the sky. This striking phenomenon happens when exhaust gases from the rocket expand high in the thin upper atmosphere and catch the morning sunlight while the ground below is still dark. The illuminated, glowing plume was highly visible across several East Coast and southeastern states, including Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia.
Keep looking up!
