Standing beneath the endless canvas of the night sky, I aimed my camera at the faint glow of Messier 100—a galaxy some 55 million light-years away. Through the lens, I marveled at the miracle of seeing light that had traveled an unfathomable distance to reach me. It was a reminder of something profound: distance does not diminish light, nor does it diminish the love of God.
As I gazed at the galaxy, I thought about how God's presence transcends all boundaries. Just as the light from Messier 100 journeyed millions of years across the universe to touch this speck of Earth, so does God's love cross every conceivable distance to reach us. Whether we feel close to Him or as though we are on the other side of the cosmos, His love is constant. No space is too vast, no heart is too distant for His grace.
Psalm 139:7-10 echoes this truth:
"Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
1even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast."
This verse reminds me that God is both near and far—He is the creator of the galaxies, yet He dwells within our hearts. The same God who spoke the stars into existence also knows our innermost thoughts and cares deeply for each of us. What a humbling and awe-inspiring truth.
As you look at the stars tonight, remember that the light reaching your eyes may have traveled millions of years, but God's love for you has no such delay—it is immediate and eternal. You are never out of His reach, no matter how far you feel. Let the light of Messier 100 remind you that His love is always shining, always pursuing, always present.
And with that, I leave you with this image I captured—a glimpse of the galaxy Messier 100, a testament to the boundless beauty of creation and the limitless love of our Creator. May it inspire you to draw close to Him, knowing He is already right there with you.
